The Belmont Fire Department sends it's thoughts and prayers to the family of Retired Fire Chief Alvin P. Miller. Chief Miller passed away on November 18, 2025.

Chief Miller started his career in the fire service with the Gantt Fire Department, and came to Belmont Fire Department on October 23, 1975. He served as Shift Captain, Assistant Chief, and was appointed Fire Chief in July of 1986. Chief Miller served the District, until his retirement in May of 1995.
