May 1-5, the Belmont Fire Department is inviting the community to light up the night in red to honor fallen firefighters and their families. Firefighters from the Belmont Fire Department encourage all local businesses, communities, and residents to light up their respective locations with red lighting. Our fire station will be lit up in red each night to honor the brave men and women who died protecting their communities. Ninety-four firefighters who have died in the line of duty in South Carolina since 1981 are listed on the Roll of Honor at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial. The National Fallen Firefighter Foundation created Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters to recognize the 25th Anniversary of the organization's inception and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.
